Deferral

Deferral is a postpone in recognition of expenses which have been already paid or revenue already received due to certain circumstances.

This is basically related to the Matching Principle, i.e. when expenses must be recognised only when they were actually incurred to earn revenue and revenue is recognised when it is earned.
